brief video clips on Renzulli SEM
Kaplan discussing Depth/Complexity (see also http://byrdseed.com/differentiator/ )
Marcia Gentry on TSCG.
Also will discuss Joyce Van Tassel Baska and PBL (http://lcps.k12.nm.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Problem-Based-Learning-Presentation-by-Joyce-Van-Tassel-Baska.pdf )
looking at how any of these approaches could be HUGE and VAST but also can inform a realistic, manageable program in the time that we actually do have – making our time count, building high-impact experiences and deep value into the limited time slots we get to spend with our kids.
Hopefully, to look beyond projects and puzzles to development of inquiry and character.

Marcia Gentry Total School Cluster Grouping
The TSCG model is a research-proven strategy for organizing an entire school population, with clusters of similarly-performing students in each room, mixed with clusters of differently-performing groups by a deliberately heterogeneous plan.
Chapter 8 of this book is an EXCELLENT guide for differentiation, and several of the suggested strategies can be used as lessons in themselves. This excerpt is from my NJAGC presentation:
Gentry & Mann: Total School Cluster Grouping Model
~ High-average students are placed with students of low, low-average, and average performance
~ Dr. Marcia Gentry, Purdue University
Information on Total School Cluster Grouping can be found at Purdue University's Gifted Education Resource Institute. Excerpts from the TSCG book are available as free downloads, including Chapter 8: Student-Focused Differentiation.

Gentry & Mann: Total School Cluster Grouping Model
- Impacts organization of entire student body; limits range of ability placed within individual classrooms
- All students are assessed and re-grouped every year to 5 performance levels; identified G&T may remain identified per local policy:
~ High-average students are placed with students of low, low-average, and average performance
- Can be used with pull-out or push-in or team-teaching; relies on continual differentiation and enrichment across all classrooms at all ability level.
